Van der Sar Seals Euro Glory
By Danny Wright
Manchester United beat Chelsea on penalties to secure the Champions League final, with goalkeeper Edwin Van der Saar the hero.
The stopper foiled Nicolas Anelka in sudden death to seal a 6-5 win on penalties. Earlier Chelsea were in a healthy position after Petr Cech denied Cristiano Ronaldo, but John Terry slipped and his kick ricocheted off the post.
The game had finished in a 1-1 draw after extra time. Ronaldo put United ahead with a fine header from a Wes Brown cross, only for Frank Lampard to slot in. Didier Drogba saw red for slapping NemanjaVidic, although it mattered little as the Flying Dutchman won the game for his side in a dramatic, tense final.
