Turnbull Demands Deal Break-through
By Danny Wright
Middlesborough goalkeeper Ross Turnbull has revealed that he wants a new contract at the club, and would like a deal to be made sooner rather than later.
Turnbull, 23, is out-of-contract at the end of the season and has expressed a desire to remain at The Riverside.
He told Sky Sports News: “We have had talks. There has been nothing recently but I’m looking to get that sorted as soon as possible,”
“We are not too far away from agreeing my deal, although I would not say we are close yet either.”
After Mark Schwarzer’s departure to Fulham in the close season, Turnbull has established himself as Gareth Southgate’s number one, impressing in his 17 starts this season.
Turnbull is a product of Middlesbrough’s youth academy and has seen off challenges from Brad Jones and Jason Steele to be first choice, but a deal has yet to be agreed, leaving his future in doubt.
“I just want it sorting as soon as possible. I want to stay,” he added.
“I have said that all the way along and I just hope it will get sorted sooner rather than later.”
