Schwarzer Opens Talks
By Danny Wright
Mark Schwarzer has opened up contract talks with Fulham.
The veteran stopper is looking to extend his stay at Craven Cottage after a fine season.
Schwarzer has helped propel Roy Hodgson’s side to the verges of European football with some top class displays since his arrival from Middlesbrough last season.
The Australian has one year left on his existing deal, but that hasn’t stopped Aston Villa and Tottenham keeping tabs on the stopper.
The 36-year-old told the Fulham Chronicle he had held “discussions” with the club.
He said: “And I feel as good, if not better, than when I first signed for Fulham. At this stage in my career, if the manager backs you and you continue to play week in, week out, then why not continue to play for as long as possible?”
