Hennessey’s slip ends Wolves bid to make history

Wolves went on to lose the game 3.0.
Hennessey’s blunder in the opening five minutes cost Wolves their bid for a record-equalling eight straight wins this season, and an eighth successive home victory, as Steve Coppell’s side brought an end to their own search for success away from the Madjeski Stadium.
One certainly punctured the sense of occasion as Hennessey’s return to the side after suspension proved to be less than glorious.
The Wales international has been widely touted as the best goalkeeper operating outside the Barclays Premier League and Wolves spent the summer fending off interest from Aston Villa and Everton.
The £5million valuation on the shoulders of the 21-year-old looked hugely inflated, judging by his crass error of punching Stephen Hunt’s inswinging corner into his own net after four minutes.
