great-save.com are today proud to announce that we have now become a official WGK stockist. As from 1pm today we will be stocking the WGK range of goalkeeper gloves designed and produced by professional goalkeeper Richard Wright.

Before helping keep Coca Cola Championship side Southampton in the 2nd tier of English football on Sunday with a close 3-2 win over Sheffield United, I had the great pleasure of meeting Richard on Friday afternoon.

We have teamed up with the West Ham stopper who has been on loan at the Saints to bring you his range of goalkeeper gloves.

Wright, a glove enthusiast, told me “I have had the dream of producing my own gloves for years now. I am a glove nut, I love goalkeeper gloves and I have so many pairs at home, I must have in excess of over a 100 pairs. My wife made me clear out of a few when we moved house but I have still kept a good collection from my pro career”

WGK bring you, the goalkeeper, two gloves, one flat palm and one roll finger, which have been closely worked on for the past two years.  Richard tells me “I have worked long and hard with my factory overseas to produce these gloves. I paid close attention to detail with my gloves and have looked at what gloves I have liked over the years and have also looked to put all the different features I like from many different gloves into my own brand”.

The WGK gloves feature 4mm latex: “The latex was key for me, it had to be spot on. Playing at the highest level I need a latex that will provide me with the very best grip at all times”.

For 2008, Richard and his team are planning the launch of a few updated styles which will be available at great-save.com from pre-season time onwards.

Look out for my interview with Richard Wright, which will be in the great-save magazine issue 4 available later this summer.

If you are looking for either a roll finger or flat palm glove with so much attention to detail please do take a look at the WGK range.

How is the sizes campared to the sells ultra wrap glove?
Im training around 5-6 days in a week plus matches.
Does the palm on the Avenger glove last long?
