Today we would like to send Congratulations to Luke Steele on making the FA Cup semi final after beating Chelsea at Oakwell on Saturday. Luke Steele and his team mates pulled out the stops to humble a second top flight side. Having taken the game to Chelsea, Barnsley scored their deserved winner early in the second half as Kayode Odejayi out-jumped Carlo Cudinici in the Chelsea goal to net the crucial winner. A near-full strength Chelsea side disappointed badly in what should have been a routine win.

Luke who is a great-save.com Customer spoke with our very own Danny Wright on Thursday ahead of the Quarter Final at Oakwell.

Luke who is on loan from West Brom told us if Barnsley had not come in for him he would probably still be at West Brom (his parent club)…not playing. “It’s been frustrating not playing, which I hate. Dean Kiely’s done a great job in goal and only one keeper can play at a time so I relished the chance to play at Barnsley. I’ve been fortunate enough to get that stroke of luck needed to play.

Barnsey are in the last 4 with West Brom Steeles Club, if the 2 sides meet in the Semi Final Steele would not be able to play. Only one Premiership side to reach the last 4 are Portsmouth who beat Man United 1.0 at Old Trafford.

Barnsley’s goalscoring hero Kayode Odejayi believes the Tykes could go on and lift the trophy now “It’s a magical tournament,” said the striker. “Who knows, it could be our year after we beat those big teams.”

Trevor Brooking, who will preside over the draw, says he hopes Barnsley are not paired with West Brom, as the Tykes’ on-loan keeper Luke Steele would not be able to play against his parent club.

“I think we’d all like Barnsley and West Brom to be kept apart in the draw,” Brooking told BBC Radio 5 Live.

The lad has played against Liverpool and Chelsea and now they’ve got to Wembley and it would be terrible for him if he had to miss out.”

Steele admits he will be nervous when the draw is taking place at Soho Square.

“It’s going to be a bit tense,” said the 23-year-old. “I’ll be hoping we draw Portsmouth or Cardiff because otherwise I won’t be allowed to play.”

Last season, Watford keeper Ben Foster was prevented from playing in their semi-final against Manchester United because he was on loan from the Old Trafford outfit.

The FA Cup Semi Final draw is made at 1325 GMT on Monday.

  1. Barnsley will meet Cardiff City in the semi-finals of the FA Cup, while West Bromwich Albion will face Portsmouth at Wembley.

Great news for Luke as he will be able to play the Semi Final at Wembley as the Tykes now have to tackle Cardiff.
